Stuff I Enjoyed This Month I July's Picks
My favorite film, article, app, video, and quote in July.
Hi, friends
Hope you are having a good time with your loved ones. I have been tied up lately going through a big thing. I will let you know in Augusti picks what is that thing and how it went. For now, keep your finger crossed :)
Anyways, In July Picks, I am going to share with you my favorite film so far in 2022, an interesting article, a game-changer app, an inspirational video, and my favorite quote this month.
š¬ Film I The Social Dilemma
After I have watched Netflixā hugely well-known documentary The Social Dilemma, taking out my phone suddenly feels different after discovering whatās hiding on the other side of my screen. Now I think about how every interaction might change my mood, how every search might control my beliefs, and how every notification might be manipulating me.
The Social Dilemma documentary is hosted by former employees in key positions at Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, all pointing to the fundamental crises with social media. They tell that many social media companies succeed by capturing as much of our attention as they can, then selling that attention to the highest bidders. As the saying goes, if youāre not paying for the product, then youāre the product.
The Social Dilemma is definitely worth watching and will inevitably prompt you to question your own online habits. I deeply believe that everyone should watch this documentary at least once in their lifetime.
š° Article I Not caring lets us perform better
This amazing article by Michael Ashcroft talks about why ācaring too muchā about achieving something (asking someone for help, catching a ball, writing an article, posting on Youtube, etc) can actually make you worse at doing the thing. Highly recommend you give it a shot.
š»App I Voice Notebook
Have you ever fallen asleep in the middle of a boring lecture? Voice Notebook has got your back.
The speech-to-text app lets you take voice notes and save them online and even offline in a neat folder so you can replay them in your free time and stay on track with the rest of the class. Voice Notebook recognizes five languages and also allows you to edit text without stopping dictation.

_ Perfectionism holds us back. Hereās why | Charly Haversat | TED Institute
This video, by Charly Haversat, has inspired me to write the last article about how perfection is like a roadblock to our success and improvement and why we should instead embrace our imperfections and failures to get better at anything we aim to do.
