To Be Successful, You Need To Be Imperfect First I Snippets
Why Perfections is Toxic and Why You Should Embrace Imperfection Instead.
✌️ I am a recovering perfectionist
Being a full-time perfectionist is a battle I’ve waged for years where I put a lot of pressure on myself to meet unattainable standards. What is even worse is that I couldn’t start a task until I am sure I can execute it perfectly and flawlessly. I was too scared to try new things because I didn’t want a “bad” result. It was hard for me to turn it off simply because I thought that perfect meant success and beauty.
Until I came across a simple yet powerful mindset shift that helped me to control this habit to a huge extent. It all started to shift when I came across the famous saying “Done is Better than Perfect” and only then did I really start to understand that perfect and beautiful aren’t the same. I understand that it’s the flaws, the imperfections, and the roughness around the edges that generate the beauty.
💁 Imperfection = Sucess
I even turn it off further to the idea that imperfection is equal to success & improvement. This might seem a bit counterintuitive, but it really is the truth.
Let me explain.
Perfection is like a roadblock to progress and improvement. You are not even allowing any progress to happen as you believe and insist to reach the destination and the end goal on the first try. Ultimately, you end up not even trying in the first place and waiting for the perfect and finished image or state.
The unfortunate reality is that this image will NEVER come, so we never achieve that thing we wanted to achieve. We’re left feeling hesitant, unworthy, and stuck in the same routine and at the same job. It’s a never-ending cycle.
It is about the process, not the end product - Journey before distnation.
🦾 We are not robots, we are human beings 🧍
It’s okay if you don’t know everything, if you don’t understand everything, if you’re not good at everything. These are not failures. They’re an inherent part of life and part of being a human being. Perfection is for robots. Human beings come with flaws. So embrace them with love and gratitude because your imperfections are the only things that will get you improved over time.
The desire for perfection only blocks our true potential and changes of improvement.
So, let yourself try. Let yourself fail. Let yourself Learn. Let yourself be less than perfect.
All love 🧡
